Myanmar article by Washington Post
Five years after Burma’s military junta began the process of democratic reforms, the Southeast Asian nation of 51 million, once cut off from the world, is undergoing rapid-fire change. Just a few years ago, for example, the country had a cellphone penetration that rivaled that of North Korea as one of the lowest in the world. Now it’s 50 percent.
The article has quite a few great pictures showing the development going on in Myanmar. It also shows several of the developments, like Star City, that my holding Yoma Strategic Holdings is building. By the way Myanmar is having national elections today. The result of these elections will go a long way in determining if further lifting of sanctions will happen. Regardless, I think the country is on the path to long term growth no matter what. I continue to hold Yoma Strategic Holdings as a way to play the growth in Myanmar long term.
