Heh... Our "energy policy" seems to be "Let us be at the mercy of a criminal cartel known as OPEC rather than utilize our own energy resources in order to placate a tiny minority of psychotic tree huggers"...

I listen to Jim Puplava's Financial Sense over the last few years now. Best I can determine, I don't think there is any conspiracy to NOT find more oil.

However, we painted ourselves in a corner with a car dependent system. Between a nationalized highway and airport system along with the banksters financing that 'right' to home ownership (urban sprawl), I can't say we have helped ourselves very well.

Consider to the Middle Eastern populations have grown over the decades and are using more oil. India and China have larger populations that want more energy.

I do wonder though why we are not growing hemp everywhere along with other plants that could help. We could use ammonia (or ammonium?) as an alternative as well.

In the end, it will probably be a mix of electric and other fuels along with the economics of some sort of mass transit (public or private, I don't care) to make some of this functional.
